Emery-Dreifuss Muscular Dystrophy, Type 2 and Folding
I've just learned that a friend's 8-year-old daughter was diagnosed at the age of 2 with Emery-Dreifuss Muscular Dystrophy, Type 2. Have done some research on the internet, and I can't make heads or tails of this horrible diagnosis vis-a-vis F@H, but it sure looks to me as though genetics and protei...

When I owned a phpBB board, I found that the secret to security and updating was to carefully research my 10-12 mods before installing them. I selected only those that had a history of support, security, and updates when phpBB updated. At most, it took 30-60 minutes to do a full update, mods include...

Project: 2526 (Run 27, Clone 10, Gen 6) - error @ 19%
I'm on dialup, so this partial WU hasn't gone back to the server yet. (I cut off the log at the end, with all its failed attempts to connect.) Should I go ahead and send it, or is there something else I can do? [06:03:31] + News From Folding@Home: Welcome to Folding@Home [06:03:31] Loaded queue succ...

-verbosity 9 switch
Is it smart to always run the -verbosity 9 switch in my console(s), or do I really need it only when troubleshooting? Presumably using it regularly doesn't slow down the folding, or does it?

The difference is that I could start using the name Dialer, and your team number posted in your signature, and start sending in points. You wouldn't know which points are yours, and which are not. And there is no way for you to seperate out those points. Ok, I get it now. Sorry for being so dense! ...

Aw 7im, I didn't mean for you to have to go into that long explanation, but it was very kind of you. Thanks! Also, what if one of those other 9 people using the Dialer sends out a trojan version of the fah client, and then the project has to zero the points from that user account, and close the acco...

Oh no, I'm quite all right with being on the ground level. After all, I can't do the scientific research myself, so if my small contribution on the computer is a help and gives the scientists more freedom to do what they do best, that's great! And I totally agree with your perspective on the pharmac...

Relationship between folding experiments & cures
I am most definitely not scientifically inclined, but after having done a little bit of research, I do recognize the value of both the F@H and laboratory experiments. What I'd most like to know is, generally speaking, how wide is the gap between the computing/laboratory experimental stages and actua...
