Re: Suggestion to donors: donate instead of buying hardware
Where's the fun in simply donating money? I'd much rather spend it on my own hardware.

Re: A little help if you please
Hi Mike, Welcome to the fold. I hope this helps you understand what is happening. There are different projects for both the CPU and GPU clients. On the same hardware these can take different amounts of time, for example I can complete some GPU2 units within a couple of hours, but others can take up ...

Re: Query: Adding more PCs (launch and forget programs)?
I hope you have read http://folding.stanford.edu/English/DownloadWinOther . May I bring your attention to this paragraph:- "Finally, note that while the points per day for these clients are higher than the classic client, they can require a lot more maintenance due to their experimental or beta...

Re: Possible to select specific WU types?
There are big differences (30%) in the PPD my PC can achieve, depending on the type of WU. My PC is obviously highly sub-optimal for some types of WU. This is not the correct interpretation. Even on the same hardware some WU will take longer than others, and thus show a difference in the PPD gained...

Re: How to install optimal on multicore machine?
Is this going to be a dedicated folding machine? Do you intend the machine to be turned on and folding 24/7? If so, having a quad core CPU you can run the Windows SMP client. It isn't difficult to set up, but can be a little sensitive to the environment - particularly if your network connection is n...

Use Fahmon (3rd party tool) to monitor your progress for each client.

Re: FaH and Boinc
I can live with that. If I start using Boinc on one machine, who gets credit for any WUs produced?Or is that a no point for team effort? FAH and BOINC are completely different. FAH credits will go to the username you create when starting FAH, and BOINC credits to the username you created when start...

Re: Project: 5765 (Run 7, Clone 238, Gen 289)
Ah, right. Should we post all EUEs or just NaNs? I seem to get mostly guarded run errors soon after a WU starts (of the errors I get, most WUs run fine).

Re: Worth using more than one client?
Absolutely. The GPU clients use very little CPU resource, so SMP plus GPU folding makes good sense for a dedicated 24/7 folding machine. When you configure your clients they will need to have different machine IDs, but the default values are suitable, so there is no good reason to change the values....

Re: Multiple Foldings
The NVIDiA client uses almost zero CPU, so you can run the same clients on the quad that you would if you were not running the GPU client, too. You have two options. If you configure four CPU clients (uniprocessor clients) and all five clients run in different folders and all are configured with di...

Re: Sneakernetting - WU Collecting: Bad?
So long as each unit is complete before the deadline it is not "bad". But it would be more useful to the scientists to get units completed as quickly as possible.

Re: maxFAH ( installer/manager/monitor for windows )
Hi MtM Thought I'd see if your maxFAH would help me create a second uniprocessor client, in addition to the one CPU and two GPU that I already have running (Athlon X2). I'm not sure if this supposed to be possible. This is under Windows XP SP3, without any of the FAH clients running. Anyway, started...
