Re: Ubuntu 18.04 on Macbook Pro (mid 2015) w/ AMD GPU
In the install code, I don't have the --no-dkms EDIT: the AMD package contains amdgpu-dkms_5.4.7.53-1048554_all.deb amdgpu-dkms-firmware_5.4.7.53-1048554_all.deb And I changed something in the workaround too (not mine, btw). In /etc/systemd/system/FAHClient.service, I directly replaced the user (Us...

WUs vary depending on the number of atoms they have. Smaller atoms are good for low-end GPUs, not so much for high-end GPUs. High atom counts are great for high-end GPUs but not so good for low-end GPUs. You can find the atom number by looking up the Project number here: https://apps.foldingathome....

Re: Ubuntu 18.04 on Macbook Pro (mid 2015) w/ AMD GPU
I installed AMD drivers with ./amdgpu-pro-install -y --opencl=pal,legacy --headless as provided here: https://amdgpu-install.readthedocs.io/e ... ro-variant And I do have to run it as root (it's a dedicated folding rig). But it's been working flawlessly for a week now. Unrelated, but you should edi...

Re: Ubuntu 18.04 on Macbook Pro (mid 2015) w/ AMD GPU
FAH requires OpenCL to do the analysis. Apparently you still need to install that prerequisite. The portion of the log that I'm most interested it is much earlier, near the very top. It shows the detection process of the GPU as well as your config.xml. After installing opencl, try restarting FAHCli...

Re: Old Quadro 4000 (GF100): Should I expect only 9405PPD?
So, interesting update here: today, it says it's doing 31K PPD. Not bad! Is there some arrangement where WUs are specific to libraries -- like, maybe this one is CUDA-specific and that works fine on this old Quadro, so the OpenCL1.2 limitation doesn't matter?

Re: Can't use FAHControl to connect to one host
After restarting the FAHClient for the third time, it suddenly started working. I don't know!

SOLVED: Can't use FAHControl to connect to one host
I hope one of you can help me with this. I have a Mac controlling a Linux client and it's doing that "can see points being generated added to the bottom left, shows as online if it doesn't have focus, but flickers between updating, connecting and online if it does have focus" thing. The we...

Ubuntu 18.04 on Macbook Pro (mid 2015) w/ AMD GPU
Has anyone tried this recently? You can fold on the CPU, but if you try on the GPU you get a bunch of these errors: ERROR:exception: Error initializing context: clGetDeviceIDs (-1) This is after installing amdgpu-pro with sudo ./amdgpu-pro-install --opencl=legacy --no-dkms --headless. If I leave out...

Re: Old Quadro 4000 (GF100): Should I expect only 9405PPD?
Welcome to the F@H Forum starkruzr, Please note that Quadro 4000 doesn't support OpenCL 1.2 which is a requirement now for GPUs: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/quadro-4000.c898 You can use all your CPUs for folding and ensure that you have a passkey if you would like to get bonus points: htt...

Old Quadro 4000 (GF100): Should I expect only 9405PPD?
Hi,
Have an old HP workstation I've put into service folding. The CPU (an E5 Ivy Bridge Xeon) gets about 41605PPD, but the GPU, so far, reports 9405PPD. I know this is a super old card, but can that be right? I would think more or less any supported GPU would be way faster than this.
Thanks.
