I have seen the biggest drop off in GPU Folding PPD start the power limit is set to under 70%. 60% - 70% isn't soo bad. Under 60% has been (for me) a huge drop off in PPD.

On a moment of reflection, If you just go with a single 4090 you will be using less power at 450 Full Load watts then (2) 4070ti's and (1) 4070 for a total of 770 Full Load Watts. Strictly for Folding, I agree that the 4070Ti is better bang for the buck. But the 4070 is a much smaller card physically, can you even fit in a 4070ti (let alone 2) into the build? What Mobo and Case are you running that could fit on that or is it a Rack unit?

18717 has a low atom count and those type of WU's just do not play well with 30XX and even worse with 40XX Cards.

I'll get roughly the same PPD and power draw as the OP with my 4070ti on 18717. It's a tough WU for 40XX Cards.

So... I know that a 3080 / 3080ti will do fine on a 3.0x8 (I am doing that currently on one of my rigs). I think that is the same speed as 4.0x4... so that should work fine for a 3080. You having a 4080 is a bit different though.. Tough call for me to say, hopefully someone can chime in on that. But...
