Re: Help With Optimization

@Bruce. Thanks for your comments. Historically, I agree with you completely, but my two incidents noted above suggest that for me at least there is something else going on, I will sit tight for now and see if it re-occurs.

Re: Help With Optimization

I would say that for Windows, up time definitely plays a role in performance, since process/threads and handles (for the CPU) seem to "hang". For the GPU part, from experience, I restart every 5 days max, but haven't observed a behavior like yours. Thanks for the recommendation. Probably ...

Re: Help With Optimization

Over the last few months, I have twice seen a decrease of about 25% in my daily PPD over a period of several days. In both instances, updating the Nvidia drivers on my primary Windows 10 rig returned my PPD to "normal". There were of course Windows updates as well (there always are) but it...

Same issue here although my FAH stats page "appears" to be correct, currently showing about 6M more points than EOC.

You could try balenaEtcher as an alternative to Rufus. It is free and runs on multiple OS's

what am i missing?
I am not sure why but this is normal. PM messages routinely sit in the outbox for several hours before showing as being sent.

Yesterday my local computer supplier finally secured a single MSI 3080 card but at a 35% premium over MSRP, so I declined. Hopefully pricing will stabilize in 2021 once there is an adequate supply.

https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/aggregate_summary.php?s= If you click on Monthly active users, you see the reality. Re: I obtain Covid Folding although I have cancer in preferr

I'm not against covid research. I'm just more into other medical reseatch (e. g. cancer) than covid. As noted in the FAH Blog, "What is more prevalent is there are a whole class of diseases that were thought not to be related to one another, such as Mad Cow, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, types of ...

Re: No CUDA or OpenCL Support Detected for GPU

Thank you to Paul and Bruce. Reinstalling Nvidia drivers corrected the problem immediately. A little surprising because it’s only three days since I last updated them and I always get these drivers directly from Nvidia. Ahh well - another one of life's mysteries. I hate it when my systems are not pe...

@glad1us Risk management. You only have few resources so manage them in a smart way I agree completely, which is why I defer to Dr. Chodera and his associates, who are infinitely more knowledgeable than I am, for guidance. My underlying concern is that the advent of Covid-19 vaccines may cause some...

Re: Heads up: New Win 10 feature in recent updates.

That sound good is it reproducable with other work units too? Then this really would be a recommendation to update Windows 10 to 2004 or newer. Is the option enabled by default or the users need to switch it on? It appears to be reproducible with other work units and I saw an immediate bump of abou...
