Re: Problems with slow upload and many WU

The upload speed is between 500kbit and 2 MBit on all work units. It makes no difference if the machine is connected by LAN or WLAN. Download of a 50 MB WU in 25 seconds, the fastest upload take about 3 Minutes. Normally 6-10 Minutes. This is no Problem with workunits that lasts 2 hours. But if they...

Problems with slow upload and many WU

I could not find a topic to this problem and maybe this will not affect many folder. But i have several gpu folding on multiple clients and the upload of the work units is so slow, that they pile up and block the upload totally. My opload bandwith has 40 mbit and is never at full capacity, but the w...

Re: Settings Sanity Check - RTX 2080 Ti

Hi, this system is very similar to my to my first folding-only system. It worked very good an i had the same 2080Ti with very similar stats. The 2080Ti has a great performance in folding, much better then the 3070. My advice for gaming is: get a new cpu for it, but this will not improve folding :D I...

Re: Upcoming AMD gpus and big navi

Thx a lot guys, the issue is solved. :D I think it was the system clock or anything similar. The client is showing more normal PPD for the last two projects now. And if it were real, i had to see it on the stats. But there are normal points for all projects yesterday, so it must have been a problem ...

Re: Upcoming AMD gpus and big navi

Sorry i cleared the log by restarting the pc. This is my current WU: project 17316; TPF 59sec; estimated PPD 7.1 million *********************** Log Started 2021-01-05T20:14:10Z *********************** 20:14:10:******************************* libFAH ******************************** 20:14:10: Date: O...

Re: Upcoming AMD gpus and big navi

sorry but is there something wrong with the Projects on the Radeon RX6000 GPUs? Was there any change? Today i installed my Ryzen 5800x and activated SAM, now my RX6800xt is a lot faster then a RTX3090 on many projects. It is from 30% to 85% faster then average PPD, the highest score was about 8.3 mi...

Re: Upcoming AMD gpus and big navi

Now my RX6800xt runs a 17321 with 4.5 Million PPD. That is almost the performance of a 2080Ti on the same project. I think with more atoms the RDNA2 perform better then Nvidia with CUDA. Now now, let's not run away to fantasy land :D 2080ti is 3rd fastest nVidia GPU ;) Nvidia got their boost by usi...

Re: Upcoming AMD gpus and big navi

The new 17xxx projects are very nice for my RX6800xt, much more speed than a RTX3070 up to 4 million PPD. But i think there are only 2 or 3 guys folding with this unicorn GPU, there are only 209 samples in the database. And i did one third of them... So i push it a bit and do some more full power te...

Re: Upcoming AMD gpus and big navi

There is no Problem with the Checkpoints in the log. I had that issue with failed checkpoints on a 2080Ti and this is not the same problem. It only appears on some of the projects, P17309 has also this problem. As soon as i change the Mhz or even the Fan Speed in the Radeon Software, the card "...

Re: Upcoming AMD gpus and big navi

No, the CPU is not folding. But i could not reproduce the Problem, since i got no p17311 anymore. I got one p14906 and one 17421 with no problems, the others were just 13428. So maybe it was a Problem or not...it is gone. But i realized that there is a huge gap between the different Projects on RX68...

Re: Upcoming AMD gpus and big navi

Possible thermal throttling? 17311 has quite a lot of atoms, so it might be pushing GPU to the limit. What CPU is in the system? Maybe that one is slowing GPU down? CPU is a watercooled Ryzen 7 3700X and the RX6800xt runs at 70°C average and 86°C hotspot. So i dont think it will be a temperature pr...

Re: Upcoming AMD gpus and big navi

I have an interesting issue on p17311 with the RX6800xt. It start normal at full speed but after some time it went down to 535Mhz. The GPU hold this for some minutes and then returns to full speed. It does not stop with a Bad Work Unit, just slow it down to about 2.9 M PPD overall. This does not hap...

Re: Upcoming AMD gpus and big navi

I've seen 2080Tis without Cuda run +4 M PPD. I run three watercooled 2080Ti and they reach 4.3 M PPD on 2070 Mhz and 85% Powertarget, but this is with CUDA. Maybe you can get 4 Mio without CUDA but Overclocking and much more power consumption. That is also the point for the RX6800xt. It c...
