You get only the base points until you have folded 10 work units. After that you are in bonus heaven.

Projects are either CPU or GPU.
Example:
Project A, CPU
Project B, GPU

Project A will only run on CPUs and Project B will only run on GPUs.

Looking at "math done per second" GPUs win. But all that power is of no use for Project A, as it only run on CPUs.
