Your CPU only has a few core vs hundreds in a GPU. This is the main reason GPUs get more points. They are doing more science.

So.... i see my gpu getting about 100-150k points per work unit...

Can you post a few of those WU numbers? The line in the log will have a Project, Run, Clone and Gen number than uniquely identifies the WU. My next finished workunit is uploading currently. No, not necessarily. Are your components well-cooled and is your box well-ventilated? If not, you should fix that first (regardless of whether you're folding or not). If so, then you're good.
