Re: PPD VS, credit.
Think of PPD like MPH, or KPH. At 75 KPH, you have to drive for an hour to go 75 Kilometers.

Re: Is there a point in CPU folding when GPU is so much bett
Worth it to the project? The answer is still yes, or they would no longer send out CPU work units. Worth it to you? That is a question you will have to answer. You could always off-set that 50 watts, and still fold for no additional cost. Replace 1 regular light bulb with a CFL or LED, and you are m...

Re: Is there a point in CPU folding when GPU is so much bett
Until there are GPUs that can fold without a CPU, CPU folding is never going away. It will always be productive. Once you figure out the actual difference in cost Folding on the CPU, or not, then you can make an informed decision. What are the watts used when folding, and not folding, on that system?

Agreed. If the next WU does the same thing, then it is something else.Joe_H wrote:Since this message shows up in the log:it might be something different than the installer bug. The slot is shown in the log as being set for CPU:2.Code: Select all

Re: CPU usage low (8%)
So I started folding on my root-server recently (it has essentially been doing jackall up until now) but I noticed, that the CPU usage was always sitting at about 8% max. Is there any way I can manually up this? The software is running on my (headless) debian server, so I'll need command lines for ...

Re: fresh windows 10 installation
There still seems to be a crippling legacy installer issue where the very first CPU work unit will ONLY run with 1 cpu core. It should revert back to using as many as configured after the first WU completes.

Re: Windows or Linux?
And with Windows, you could have been up and folding by now. Linux is the current winner if raw performance is your only criteria, but not by a lot. Easier install, monitoring, and ease of troubleshooting might also be considerations, and those all favor Windows. Run whatever works best for you. The...

Re: New GTX 1080 Ti folds as misdetected GTX 980 Ti
I have a box with an MSI 780 Lightening & a Gigabyte water cooled 1080. FaH shows the 780 as a 1080 & folds as a 780, same speeds I got before the 1080. The 1080 is labelled as a 780 and folds at 1080 speeds. HAven't tried to force assignment in the FaH Control Advanced. If you have not rei...

Re: Configuration help, Cant get client folding
So i think it is the main work firewall, connected it to the wireless (which goes over a different network and folding seems to work so looks like i need to amend the sonicwall filtering :-( Like Joe said, FAH acts like a browser, using ports 80 and 8080, which are normally open for web traffic. So...

Re: GTX 1080 Ti
Recommend to not go over 2000 Mhz then you have enough Mhz room so the PC does not crash tomorrow, next week or next month. 2050 Mhz vs 2000 Mhz is only 2.5% difference. But that extra 50Mhz equals out to 192700 more Mhz across the 3854 cores. That not worth it? If you have a bus load of kids (a ve...
