Re: Installation Problems on Raspberry Pi 4

Try starting the FAHClient service manually by opening a terminal and entering:

Code: Select all

systemctl start FAHClient
If that allows FAHControl and the web control to connect, set it to start automatically with:

Code: Select all

sudo systemctl enable FAHClient

That's what I had to do to get it working, at least.

Re: RX580 - is it worth folding on?

I've actually been averaging a bit over 400k PPD on these SARS-CoV-2 units on my RX 480 (factory o/c to 1303MHz). AFAIK that's more productive (point- and science-wise) than any CPU, so I'd say it's definitely worth it.

Re: AMD GPU Error sortShortList on some projects

Nice detective work _r2w_ben! Been having the same issue on my RX 480, and made the connection to larger simulations but didn't go so far as to look at the OpenMM code. Perhaps this insight can help Pande Labs/OpenMM/AMD figure out a solution.

Re: AMD RX Vega + P11746 = BAD_WORK_UNIT

Same exact issue here on RX 480 8GB and Ryzen 5 1600X. Just updated from Adrenaline 20.2.2 to 20.3.1; issue persists.

Re: Core 78 projects seem on a hiatus

We'll look into this. Hopefully it's an easy fix, but often fixes seem easier than they are in reality. Thank you for your response! I have a low-power, virtually silent (passively cooled) P-M system ready to fold. It's not the greatest, but given the chance I think it would meet A4-uni deadlines a...

Re: 171.67.108.11 work server issue {Maintenance}

bruce - What does it take to get the M reclassified? Would anyone be bothered enough with such an old (and, I suppose, now rare) CPU? I think you're right. It's not likely to happen. That's rather unfortunate considering they shouldn't be excluded in the first place. If the FaH CPU feature detectio...

Re: Blog post: "Unified GPU/SMP benchmarking scheme ..."

These discussions, led by consumers and a few programmers, inevitably start from the premise that an open standard (e.g., OpenCL) is Good, and a proprietary one (e.g. CUDA) is Bad, and that Nvidia is being mean to us by keeping it proprietary. Conversely, the sun would shine and all would be good i...

Re: Blog post: "Unified GPU/SMP benchmarking scheme ..."

Based on forum reports, there have been several recent revisions of AMD drivers which have contained bugs that interfere with the reliable use of OpenCL for AMD GPUs. Until AMD resolves those issues, there's little incentive for a researcher to release new projects for AMD. Does that not imply the ...

Re: Blog post: "Unified GPU/SMP benchmarking scheme ..."

Ok I suppose I should've counted both projects that show up in the project summary stats. I'm only an occasional folder so my experience my not be fully representative of the situation. Regardless, it doesn't really change the sentiment of my original post.

Re: Blog post: "Unified GPU/SMP benchmarking scheme ..."

Can anybody clarify what the deal is with AMD GPU project(s?) regarding the new unified benchmarking scheme? In the blog post a couple weeks ago it said: We are still in the process of re-benchmarking some old projects assigned to ATI and G80 GPUs. The only AMD project I ever get is p11293, which do...
