Thanks for confirming. Hadn't appreciated the team was already aware of this "false error".
Still, at least those suffering from it might stumble across your post and breath a sigh of relief now.

Re: 997: Overlapped I/O operation is in progress.
I'm a developer and this in not an error but a status code that shouldn't be logged. It's an fyi status from Windows saying "ok I acknowledge your request to read some data. There isn't any data in my buffers right now but when I get some I will notify you". This is normal behaviour when t...

Re: New client 7.6.8 issues
7.6. 9 running. 1 CPU 1 GPU. WU acquisition seems a lot snappier. A fuzzy metric, but something has changed for the better with retries. Viewer; CPU - amazing work. Shimmer has gone. Fluid transitions. You can use mouse to drag around. Can you enhance this feature with VR so I can walk inside? I jes...

Re: New client 7.6.8 issues
It could be the digital cert on the installer expired 2019? These things are so easy to forget about - who puts a reminder in Outlook for 3 years in the future?! I think I know who the publisher is;-) Will install when my WUs have finished. Norton "File Insight" has already given it a &quo...

Re: Odd issue, probably with F@h
I did a quick google. Microsoft OneDrive can change the shortcut links/icons to denote sync status. https://support.office.com/en-us/articl ... c985aa49b3 The icons could change as files are being synced to the cloud, or a connection problem, or...who knows. If you've installed FAH "properly&qu...

serverstats - mskcc - 3,600.00/hr - exactly 1 per second
No idea if this helps. Just trying to. There's file transfer issues. https://apps.foldingathome.org/serverstats (140.163.4.231 + 140.163.4.241) Assign rate of 3600/hr is exactly 1/second. Seems too much of a coincidence. Throttling? Thread.Sleep(1000) ? 140.163.4.231; hover over Yes for "Has CS...

Number of times I've seen Anti Virus scanners causing this.JohnChodera wrote:We've restarted plfah1-1.mskcc.org (140.163.4.231) after it was having some file locking issues. The logs seem to be happier now, so please let us know if there are still issues!
Thanks for bearing with us!

Re: Over 2 exaflops!
That is absolutely stunning. The contrast of where began and what I witness today is extraordinary. I started out "developing" on a ZX Spectrum. 4MHz Z80. A nerdy schoolboy trying to write in software a synthesizer (DX7) I couldn't afford. It took 50 seconds to compute a 2 second electroni...

Re: FAHBench feature proposals & brainstorming
Those are some pretty cool ideas. When it comes to system component detection, it won't be wise for the F@H Team to re-invent the wheel. That's a massively complex undertaking. However, it would be a lot easier if they can use an existing system like via a partnership with HWiNFO (https://www.hwinf...

Re: multi-gpu support
I ran my old RX480 + new Vega 56 + i7 6700k all folding in parallel, and the PC was still usable for other chores. No reason a 2nd GPU can't game instead. My 2 different GPUs had different cooling layouts; their fans were facing each other causing some weird airflow starvation, the heat from both ri...

Re: Response to Folding@Home Dev Chat: distributed storage
I will commit to leaving my PC running until the WUs are complete - most evenings and weekends. But not running 24/7 as I pay the electricity bills here. So my free storage would be transient and my MTBF low. Which is why duplication is needed when using crowd instead of cloud. Amazon has AWS S3, Go...

Thank you PantherX - will do.

Re: GPU WU Crashes every time at around 3%
On the heat stuff, the gpu has a freshly cleaned and pasted twin fan MSI Frozr ii cooler. The fan speed mentioned is for the two gpu fans. CPU fins are running between 1950 and 2070rpm, cpu temp maxes out at around 62c. As above GPU temp maxed out at 53c, wouldn't preclude any temp issues? Case is ...
