Gridcoin poll to whitelist Folding@Home (via adapter)
I hope this isn't judged to be off-topic here, but just wanted to share this for anyone interested: https://www.reddit.com/r/gridcoin/comments/yzitb4/foldinghome_adapter_whitelisting/ Gridcoin (GRC) is a BOINC -based cryptocurrency somewhat comparable to CureCoin. Being able to connect one's FAH eff...

Re: cuda failure - core 0.0.13 - both win10 and linux
removed the cuda 11 development stuff and now at least on my windows 10 box FAH is using CUDA to fold on both nvidia GPUs. That worked for me on Windows too, had the exact same issue. :) Most of my other crunchers are running some flavour of Linux, though (primarily Ubuntu), and none of them are us...

Re: Remote access issues on Ubuntu
Reporting back after a while with a potential solution. When you go through the installation steps and it asks you if you want FAH to start automatically, select 'no'. This solves the remote connection issue as well as the unwanted "ghost" Web Control folding instance.

Re: It's getting better now, isn't it?
Thanks, I'm aware. Since I opted in last Saturday I did have one out of my seven FAH crunchers crash once, so maybe that's related. Still, this seems vastly preferable to being without work for hours on end at worst and never getting all slots filled at best, as it was before. I do monitor all my ma...

Re: It's getting better now, isn't it?
Ever since I enabled advanced projects I've had a near-constant stream of WUs.

Re: running out of work/projects
That's cool, I managed to get all my hosts and slots loaded by signing up to the advanced projects! I wasn't aware that this needed opting in. Can you elaborate on the nature of these projects? Is there a higher chance that they return some kind of error? Does it only download them if it can't find ...

Re: Remote access issues on Ubuntu
So something that could be related to this... on the two computers I can't connect to, I seem to have *two* instances of FAH running for some weird reason. One is the one I start through the terminal (/etc/init.d/FAHClient; it has CPU and GPU slots), the other appears to be triggered by Web Control ...

Re: Remote access issues on Ubuntu
hmmm, I tried that and it briefly goes to a blank cursor and then exits again. I tried it with some of the machines that I can connect to via Advanced Control too and it shows Welcome to the Folding@home Client command server. > So it's working, but whatever's preventing those computers from being a...

Re: Remote access issues on Ubuntu
Found the link - viewtopic.php?f=16&t=32962&p=316215&hilit=remote+access#p316067. Thanks, but that doesn't really help me since it's a) talking about setting it up in Advanced Control (which I can't start on Ubuntu) and b) saying nothing I didn't yet do the equivalent of via editing the...

Re: Remote access issues on Ubuntu
Maybe also noteworthy... on the machines that I can't connect to (I have installed it on a second Ubuntu 18.04 computer, doesn't work either), Web Control only shows a CPU slot, although both have multiple GPUs (which are indeed working when I run it through the terminal). On the two Ubuntu machines...

Re: Remote access issues on Ubuntu
After changing the config.xml file did you either reboot the machine or restart FAHClient? That is another required step often forgotten. Yes, both. Are you setting a password for the connections? There is a another option setting for that which also require a network address to be configured if yo...

Re: Were they running F@H?
ah, thanks. Unfortunately that tab does not seem to load for me. I only see the description, but no results.
