BIOS version can make a big difference
Some information to maybe help someone else in future. I recently built two machines which were as near as possible identical. Each were 2p Opteron 16 core processors using Supermicro H8DGI-F motherboards. I built the first one and, following suggestion on these boards, installed the Beta version of...

Re: Possible problem adding second graphics card
If I re-install the client won't I lose any part-finished WU's though?. I thought that was a big no-no as the WU's then go into limbo until they hit their end-date

Re: Possible problem adding second graphics card
Output from FAHClient --lspci | grep NVIDIA: 0x10de:0x1c02:NVIDIA Corporation: 0x10de:0x10f1:NVIDIA Corporation: 0x10de:0x1b81:NVIDIA Corporation: 0x10de:0x10f0:NVIDIA Corporation:NV3 [PCI] The GPU I've got on this system is an AMD FX-8320E which I'm fairly sure doesn't come with an inbuilt GPU. The...

Possible problem adding second graphics card
I added a GTX1070 as a second graphics card today, the first was a GTX1060. I seem to be folding OK but there are two possible issues that I've noticed. The first, as in the log below, seems to show 3 GPU's with the third as an unknown. When I added the GPU I simply went to configure -> slots and add...

Re: Xeon E5-2670 performance?
Yes I agree. If I was simply looking to max out my PPD then I'd go for GPU upgrades/additions. It seems to me that the PPD values are aimed at the people donating computer power for folding as a 'reward' system, but it strikes me that from the project perspective it's really the WU's per day complet...

Re: Xeon E5-2670 performance?
Thanks for the fast response, my estimates were based on extrapolating benchmark comparisons and it looks like I've got the factors a bit high. GPU upgrades is one of the other options I'm costing up. I've recently put a GTX1060 into one of my machines and I'm averaging somewhere in the region of 23...

Xeon E5-2670 performance?
I'm thinking about hardware upgrades for F@H and one of the options I'm considering is building around a pair of Xeon E5-2670 processors which are currently available for less than £100 each. I'm trying to work out what sort of PPD I'd get with this setup performing just CPU folding. The benchmarks ...

Questions about multi gpu setup
Hi, I only started folding about a couple of weeks ago and I have a question about upgrading to multiple GPU's on my machine. My current setup is: 03:24:38: Version: 7.4.4 03:24:38: Date: Mar 4 2014 03:24:38: Time: 12:02:38 03:24:38: SVN Rev: 4130 03:24:38: Branch: fah/trunk/client 03:24:38: Compile...
