GPU folding fails -- Bad platformId size.

Hello. I'm using a GTX 980 with Windows 7. The work unit fails. "01 Failed gpu:0:GM200 [GeForce GTX 980 Ti]" It had been working for months and last week failed. I reinstalled Version 7.4.4 to get rid of it but the work unit fails again. Device Manager says the 980 is okay. Is this error m...

Re: Stats not updating?

My only worry is having an outage without a broadcasted explanation. For some it's like knowing there is a horse race or ball game but not being able to watch because the video is blocked out, lol.

Re: Projects 762x Testing Core v2.25 on Adv

Pardon me but I'm just a novice with this. I had been running a 680, model 02G-P4-2682 successfully for a few months now. Suddenly at the time of your current announcement, the gpu project given 7623 doesn't work. It says it's running but progress stays at zero. A cold reboot of the computer doesn't...

Re: Project: 7600 (Run 3, Clone 3, Gen 38) - Bad WU

Since 7640 doesn't currently fold, what advice can be taken? How get a different project? Would setting different switches help?

Re: ATI or Nvidia?

I'm going to ask a similar question. I've yet to purchase a video card. My purpose would be folding, no gaming at all. What card should I be considering? Price range is $100 -$500 whatever is most rewarding. I would have at least a 550 watt power supply. Is that all I need consider -- the power supp...

Re: Preferred deadline on 6701?

It's a matter of what is meant by "negative credit." If failure to meet deadlines causes the loss of bonus points for other faster machines because there were enough failures to fall below the overall qualification for bonuses, the loss of bonus would be negative credit of otherwise earned...

Re: Preferred deadline on 6701?

bruce, 670x's are guaranteed to miss the Final Deadline which means potential negative credit.

Re: Preferred deadline on 6701?

Thank you. That answers the question about "big" WU's. Note I have a few other SMPs running for bonus points. Most of the time they don't get 6701's or 6702's which I wouldn't mind at all for those machines. That my slow SMP machine is getting 670x's must be the bad luck of the draw. So no...

Re: Preferred deadline on 6701?

This machine has already been discarded for a new one. Its purpose is solely for folding. I'm asking if I can alter settings to avoid long WU's? It runs fine with shorter WU's. Rather than run singles, I would shut it off.

Re: Preferred deadline on 6701?

My SMP laptop is slow but has been running fine for most WU's. Unfortunately it takes just under 2 hours per step for 6701's and 6702's. That means it will run 8 days or time out not making the deadline. Can I deliver partial results and get partial credit? Is there some way I can make settings to a...

SMP 0x79 on restart

This laptop folds SMP alright until I shut it down with Ctl-C. A re-boot always gives 0x79 and I lose the WU every time. Should I re-install or what? Here is the last log: 19:33:24] Completed 127500 out of 250000 steps (51 percent) [19:49:20] Writing local files [19:49:21] Completed 130000 out of 25...

Multiple Foldings

I would like to run multiple foldings, if possible, on one computer having multiple cores. What can be done with a quad? I have an NVIDIA card and XP is my operating system. What are my options? For a duo and SMP, is the answer only one folding because it uses 100 percent of the cpu or does the NVID...

Re: Many Questions

Am new to VMware Player and would like to use it on my Windows XP duo. My XP is 32-bit. Can I run folding or do I require a 64-bit operating system? The processor on my duo is 64-bit. I did try it. I installed VMware Player but got this message: VT not enabled: This is usually due to a BIOS/firmware...
