So would it be correct to say that it's helpful for the testing for the Work Unit to be completed, but that even when the WU fails to meet the deadline, that's a data point that's useful for testing, at least for the performance increase aspect?

Given that this is stated to be for testing, is it possible that they intentionally set a short deadline to assess how many computers would be able to meet it? After all, 9752, the project that actually got the data, has already been completed. They don't really need people to complete the Work Unit...
