Re: p2665 points/deadline?
One other big commonality they all share is the use of any number of the “ix” OS’s Linux, Unix, OSX (Jobs gives a lot of hardware to schools, go figure) and any other equivalent OS. There is no good reason not to use these Os’s in fact they are perfectly suited to the task. ... What Stanford won’t ...

Re: p2665 points/deadline?
I normally don't talk about beta testing, but p2665 was beta tested, so there was no surprise involved. BillR and others are taking kasson's "surprise" comment literally instead of figuratively. Go back and read his comment again with that adjusted point of view. In fact I did read his co...

Re: p2665 points/deadline?
Ok, again trying to keep this on a lite note, how could the performance of the A-1 on a Quad core take you by surprise? Did you not run any there at the lab? :? It only took us non scientific type folders about 3 frames to figure out that the scaling didn’t work so we simply added a second client. ...

Re: ideas on speeding up stats
First, I question why this pole exists. If anything the stats site should include more information and it should update more often. As for speed I find it hard to believe that a program such as folding supported by Stanford University can’t afford a proper server. I also find it even harder to belie...

Re: p2665 points/deadline?
We try to be as transparent as possible with released projects, code, etc. We don't like publicizing things that are still under development precisely because of the fluid nature of that development--plans change, projects get delayed, we find bugs, etc. But requests for more communication are unde...

Re: p2665 points/deadline?
Just a note to say that we do take notice of feedback from our donors and we value our donors' contributions. There are a number of factors at play here; we are considering how best to deal with the situation. Further announcements will be forthcoming (no ETA). [So the point of the post is mostly t...

Re: p2665 points/deadline?
Let's all calm down. Yes, p266x projects are getting less PPD than previous projects. Sucks for you, sucks for me too. But everyone is jumping to conclusions without knowing all of the facts. Everyone jumps in to complain, but they have no idea what the problem is, or how to fix it, or have good po...

Re: p2665 points/deadline?
This whole point’s debate has gone on pretty much from the time we all got past work that was worth something like 5 PPD. I even recall one post from way back when where 7im got so upset about the complaints the threat was made and carried out regarding “bonus” points and they were, as promised, low...
