Re: Low PPD w/ Geforce GTX 560 Ti
Update: have let it run like this for a few hours, and I'm now up to ~31,500 PPD for the 560 Ti GPU. So for anyone else's future reference, my setup/system is: - OS: Xubuntu 14.04 64 bit - Display drivers for the 560 Ti card: I didn't install any other Nvidia drivers besides what came with Xubuntu. ...

Re: Low PPD w/ Geforce GTX 560 Ti
You must uninstall any Nouveau drivers before installing nVidia. Usually I do that at OS install time, and put in custom, driver, but that will be the current version, not 327 or before. So you still need to remove the newer nVidia driver before installing 327. Ok, to be clear are you saying to &qu...

Re: Low PPD w/ Geforce GTX 560 Ti
Any driver newer than 327.xx will run at half speed until either a fixed driver is released from NV. Or a patched FAHCore_17 is released for Linux like it was for Windows. Try this: Tips for installing Nvidia .run files in Linux Thank you. I tried this process step by step with the 304.117 driver. ...

Re: Low PPD w/ Geforce GTX 560 Ti
I've had best Ubuntu success with drivers d/l'ed from Nvidia's website -- IIRC you can select the version (I think there is a 327 for Linux) and it comes with a good installer that "just works" -- one or two questions but the answers are usually obvious. OpenCL is included. Downloads from...

Re: Low PPD w/ Geforce GTX 560 Ti
Also, I've entered a passkey. It boosted my CPU PPD from 1,500 to 9,500, but hasn't affected the GPU ppd.

Re: Low PPD w/ Geforce GTX 560 Ti
Tried installing opencl nvidia drivers, did a clean install of ubuntu server, did a clean install of ubuntu desktop, still stuck at 1700 ppd w/ a card that should be getting 37,000. If I don't install nvidia-current, I can't install any other nvidia drivers. If I install nvidia-current, it defaults ...

Re: Low PPD w/ Geforce GTX 560 Ti
Did you also had a look in this summary posting ? viewtopic.php?nomobile=1&f=80&t=27040 While for 90% I'm sure you are on the right track with driver issue please also make sure to have a passkey installed. This one also need to have finished in combination with your donor ID at least 10 WU...

Re: Low PPD w/ Geforce GTX 560 Ti
After reading more, it seems to be a recurring thought that the 304 series Nvidia drivers are preferable for cards similar to mine. Specifically the 304.117 driver, for example in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=80&t=26803 Installing the "nvidia-current" package adds the 304.125 driver to...

Low PPD w/ Geforce GTX 560 Ti
Hi all, I recently purchased and installed a Geforce GTX 560 Ti and my PPD is far lower than I expected. I read in several places that the PPD for the 560 should be around 30,000 PPD. Right now I'm getting ~1,800. Here is my setup: 8-core i7-860 @ 2.80 4GB Ram 600W cooler master power supply Gigabyt...

Re: "Failed" GPU folding w/ Radeon HD 4770, Linux, Windows
Not even using an older version of the client. The folding core used by the 4000 series back then was based on ATI's proprietary coding and that core was Windows only as well. It was deprecated and reached end of life a couple years ago when ATI/AMD dropped support for that coding language and chan...

Re: "Failed" GPU folding w/ Radeon HD 4770, Linux, Windows
From: http://folding.stanford.edu/home/guide/ ... ide/#ntoc4 ... 5xxx series or newer ... Thanks, interesting. Are there any workarounds? This article (from 2009) seems to suggest that it's possible: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphi ... 0-512mb/12 Possibly using an older version of the foldi...

Re: "Failed" GPU folding w/ Radeon HD 4770, Linux, Windows
Is that GPU supported by folding in Linux? Check the Linux install guide on the fah web site. I can't seem to find the list of supported GPUs right now. Can you point me to it? IIRC, it was however listed as a supported GPU. Whether that was for Linux or Windows I can't recall. Either way, the same...

"Failed" GPU folding w/ Radeon HD 4770, Linux, Windows
Hi all, I have experience setting up folding for standard CPU folding with the V7 client on both Windows and Linux. I'm having trouble configuring a new machine for GPU folding. The GPU is the Radeon HD 4770. The CPU is an i7-860, and it is working very well with the V7 client. I've tried with both ...
