Re: Why I uninstalled FAH, just in case
By changing permissions, I was able to fix that registry entry, but VBScript still didn't run. I finally fixed it by using "the McAfee Consumer Product Removal tool (MCPR) to remove data completely." Add/Remove Programs isn't enough to completely remove McAfee AV.

Re: Why I uninstalled FAH, just in case
I was able to install MSE and a quick scan found nothing. Chkdsk found nothing either. The only remaining issue is VBS not working. For now I'm blaming McAfee AV, which I uninstalled about a month ago. I tried changing the registry according to the information below but Windows wouldn't let me. I ma...

Re: Why I uninstalled FAH, just in case
I'm using Windows 7. With all the bad stories about Windows 8, I'll probably skip it. I don't have any hand held things to plug into it and it sounds like a headache to use it as just a desktop OS.

Why I uninstalled FAH, just in case
Weird things started happening When I tried searching for and reading a file containing old exported bookmarks. All I did was try opening some files in Notepad, Wordpad, and Firefox. Kaspersky asked to install some things for Firefox and I said no. Then most of my desktop icons changed into some gen...

Re: Sleep issues with Windows 7
I guess I installed a version later than 12.8 that has a 9.2 driver. I chose the latest non-beta release that was available yesterday.

Re: Sleep issues with Windows 7
The suite is named after the driver... http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pa ... Notes.aspx "The AMD Catalyst software suite 12.8 contains the following: AMD display driver version 8.982" Its up to you to make sure things are kept up to date/compatible. That may be fine for Linux users ...

Re: Sleep issues with Windows 7
I guess new driver versions are optional updates that Windows Update doesn't automatically install even when it's configured to install important and recommended updates. I still have the latest driver and Windows Update supposedly ran at 3:00 am. I mean...it wouldn't have made sense for Windows Upd...

Re: Sleep issues with Windows 7
Actually, I may have installed 12.8. That's the version of the software suite, not the driver that's included. I think it also includes AMD Multimedia Center™, HydraVision, HydraVision Basic Edition, and Remote Wonder™. I don't know what any of that is yet. F@H is working and no crashes.

Re: Sleep issues with Windows 7
Problem already solved with version 9.2.0.0. Version 12.8 may be stable with F@H but maybe not with the software suite I downloaded. I think I'll see exactly what's in that suite before I change anything.

Re: Sleep issues with Windows 7
With a ATI GPU the latest driver known to be stable for use with F@H is version 12.8. I just clicked "update driver" in Windows in case I initially did something wrong and it downgraded it back to the 6/29/2011 version! Then I clicked the rollback button and it went back to the 9/27/12 ve...

Re: Sleep issues with Windows 7
I saw that the driver date was 6/29/2011 and I went AMD's website to look for a new driver. All I found was the Catalyst Software Suite with Net 4 Support, released on 10/22/2012, which was a long download of more than just the necessary driver, but it worked! No more BSOD when waking up. The driver...

Re: Sleep issues with Windows 7
Yes, I mean I went to nvidia.com, then I installed Java, then the nVidia's automatic driver finder ran and said "The NVIDIA Smart Scan was unable to evaluate your system hardware. Please use Option 1 to manually find drivers for your NVIDIA products", but I didn't know which options to sel...

Re: Sleep issues with Windows 7
nVidia's automatic driver finder didn't work even after I installed Java and I don't know what to select to get the manual driver finder to work. All I know is:

Re: Sleep issues with Windows 7
Maybe delaying the start up of FAH when the computer wakes up would prevent a crash.
