Thing is... just how much compute power would AMD cards running on Linux bring?
The drivers are still horrid.

You mean with core 16?P5-133XL wrote:Can the standard OpenMM cores also be recompiled with 5.1 and if so, would they get a similar speedup?
I doubt they would spend time doing so.

Re: XFX Radeon HD 6870 Problems suddenly
It was the drivers more than likely.
I was messing with them recently and I ran into the errors that you did when we were on IRC.
Atiman uninstaller did the trick and I installed Catalyst 13.2 beta 6.
I think Cat. 13.1 would work better for you, though.

Re: Folding@Home Benchmark Beta (0.4 Latest)
Just curious...
But will there be an option to benchmark different projects later on?
I wouldn't mind seeing how P6903 works on a GPU (2,533,797 atoms).![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)

Re: Folding@Home Benchmark Beta Testing
no actually i do mean 2 cards working on the same WU - the problem is that kinda don't scale very well when testing internally (and they only work on explicit). I'll probably need to add another flag specifying explicit/implicit - so sorry if I end up breaking all your batch files =P I think you wo...

Re: Folding@Home Benchmark Beta Testing
quick heads up - next update (not released yet) will allow MULTIPLE GPUs to WORK TOGETHER Fascinating. How similar will they have to be? Exact same card? same family, or any two GPUs that meet base requirements? I don't think he meant multiple cards working on the very same WU (like SLI or somethin...

Yes, it's not for the drivers to be "fixed".
The fahcore NEEDS to be updated to conform with AMD's latest OpenCL implementation.

Re: Looks like smp and bigadv will soon be dead
It's no secret that smaller proteins fold faster on GPUs than on CPUs.
Some of you guys are jumping the gun based on one small WU.
Let's see how bigadv WUs do on GPUs.

Re: AMD gpu projects
Hi, I own a 7950 gpu. I tried folding on it some months ago, and i got (IIRC) about 6k PPD and always only one project assigned (11293). So a few questions: Are there any other projects planned that can use amd gpus ? Are there any plans to make the fah code more efficient on amd gpus ? So far i've...

Re: Catalyst 12.11 beta driver
Hi, Recently I installed the new 12.11 beta drivers for my HD 7970 and my PPD on the GPU folding has dropped by quite a bit. It is now averaging on 2000 PPD whereas before, it was at around 8000 PPD. I am curious to know if this has happened to anyone else upgrading to these drivers and if so, has ...

Sorry, meant probably will be restricted until... AMD gets their stuff together with their OpenCL compiler.

Re: Overall status of a project? 11293, how many WUs left?
There is very little diversity with core 16 (for AMD) projects and I suspect it's a technical limitation.
So throw us a bone here?
11293 is probably that bone.

Re: Sapphire 7850
In standard versions yes, but not in beta versions. It probably wouldn't hurt to verify the version of opencl packed with each version of cat driver. I've tested quite a few betas (released to public and some that weren't) and they all have included the APP SDK Runtime. 12.8 was released as WHQL ce...
