Re: another question about threads
On the Win 10 computer I have task manager lies like there is no tomorrow, nearly useless. On an 8 core/thread cpu, using 6 for cpu and one for gpu, task manager shows 100% use, and no, I do not have so much other junk running that it takes up the whole last core. HWMonitor reports a more realistic ...

You can add the option pause-on-start true under expert tab extra client options or under specific slots.

Upgrade your client version, had to do that on one of mine to get cuda recognized properly.

Re: Found an old machine and want to fold with it
Unlike other platforms, Linux is expected to need rebooting once every few years. 8-) Windows on good hardware can go for a long time without rebooting just fine. Crap hardware and sometimes crap software are the problem. I have an old win xp computer that currently has 491 days uptime. It gets reb...

Re: Linux PopOS and GTX 2060 folds one WU and quits silently
The folding client has long had a bug where it doesn't detect stalled connections. Yours tried to get a new unit but didn't finish the download but the client didn't detect it and was just waiting for it to finish. I also see you had trouble getting the core downloaded and the unit you did run had a...

Next unit percent was much more useful before everyone had super fast broadband connections, can still be useful for some people.

Why would you assume this? Projects would take decades at that rate. If I download software that does scientific calculations I would expect 100% cpu use.Benberk123 wrote: I would have assumed it used less than 5% on my CPU.

Re: Why is CPU use much lower on one of two RTX 2060 cards?
May just be getting smaller units on the second card(low atom count) smaller unit cant use up a whole high end card. Could be bandwidth but linux is much better than windows on that.

Re: Can't choose large number of CPU cores
If the failed gpu units are all 13404 or 13405 I wouldn't worry too much, they have a higher than normal failure rate. If they are other projects that are failing there could be a problem, would need to see the logs from a failure to have any ideas why.

What version are you running? Older versions of fahcontrol had a memory leak but that was fixed. And is it fahclient or some other part that is using the memory?

Random fact, if you have a single nvidia card and set the tmax and twait settings you can still turn it on, kinda useless except as a last resort though. <extra-core-args v='-tmax=65 -twait=5000'/> 14:44:39:WU00:FS01:0x22:Completed 0 out of 1000000 steps (0%) 14:44:39:WU00:FS01:0x22:Core22 Folding@h...

They slowed the updates down to help the stats server load.

You might try to find a different app to get info about the ups, I notice cpuid hwmonitor can give me battery voltage, load % and battery % from my apc 1500.

The checkpoint for these projects is indeed 25%. Something about new scientific mumbo jumbo going on between 25 and 50% that they dont want checkpoints happening in yet. They are still testing things out. It was posted in another thread here somewhere.

Enjoy the house fire, lithium does not charge the same even if voltage is same.
