Well after about 10 or so tries, it finally picked up a different work unit.

Advanced scientific methods is turned off in the configuration.

That did not seem to work for me. I have the same issue. The work unit crashes almost immediately for me. I have used the system stress tester and memtest to no avail. It only wants to do this work unit.
