I am aware of the issues regarding those projects, as I was one of the first to identify the issue as latency rather than bandwidth. The question was whether a PCIe 2 graphics card will see any benefit from being in a PCIe 3 capable mainboard?
Thanks

Re: Advice for an efficient folding GPU... or no GPU folding
I knew it needed a 3rd gen for PCIe3... but that's what I'm getting. This all started with picking the i7-3770k. Do you believe that "adding a second card with it would not be a good idea" applies even with the 3rd gen Intel Core cpu? Not clear from your post. So long as you've got an ivy...

Re: Advice for an efficient folding GPU... or no GPU folding
The Sabertooth z77 that's on its way here has two "PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16 or dual x8)" Which I understand to mean two cards would run at PCIe3 8x/8x which I understand to be as good as PCIe2 16x/16x... I think it's extremely unlikely I'll ever have more than one GPU, but it's nice to know ...

Re: Advice for an efficient folding GPU... or no GPU folding
I'm guessing you're factoring in initial outlay in addition to PPD / watt? Kepler isn't the right way to go at the moment. . . I saw a benchmark on these forums for it somewhere, but can't find it . . . Performance similar to a GTX580 (as previously mentioned) in addition to a cost not dissimilar to...

Re: 7643: (Run 490, Clone 0, Gen 19) Unstable Machine etc
I have noticed a couple of posts about people potentially abandoning GPU folding due to issues relating to 76xx projects. In the interest of encouraging people to continue to fold on their GPUs I'd like to comment that I am currently running F@H GPU v6.41 (console) on two GTX480s with the -advmethod...

Re: Project7641(345 0 6)
Technically you can go on failing work units from the same project over and over without a different one being assigned. Try adding the -advmethods flag (or removing it if you already have it). Clear the contents of the "work" directory and delete queue.dat, then restart folding at home. T...

Re: Project #764x 80% GPU use solved?
In theory there should be a "tipping point" on a down-clocked graphics card at which point the supply of data via the PCI bus matches that of the clock settings. At that point one might expect to see a proportional increase in load due to the graphics card no longer having to wait for data...

Re: Project #764x 80% GPU use solved?
I put in the original post identifying this as an issue, however I can confirm that overclocking the cards has no effect on the GPU usage. My cards stayed at 86% load regardless of their clock settings, however PPD saw a proportional increase. . . This led me to believe the limiting factor was the l...

Re: Gather data: GPU Projects with 20000+ atoms,
I've taken this from a thread over at [H] where a teammate has the same problem But jeez stanford..... PPD is a mear 25% of what my cards could get on other units. 25%! seriously?! I know you think GPU is over-valued but no warning? just cut PPD to 1/4? . . . 570 getting TPF of: ~21 minutes, about ...

Re: V7 Client and GTX 580 Throttling?
Not a setting problem. It's a larger work unit, and the GPU processors are not the limiting factor for these WUs. Feeding the data fast enough to keep the GPU busy seems to be the limiting factor with these WUs. I responded to a post Bruce put in on this issue earlier with regard to what one might ...

. . . If only people would read through existing threads before posting. . . having criticised you earlier for short and sharp responses 7im: I now feel your pain  It is possible to re-gain lost points production by overclocking your graphics card (if there is headroom to do so) as it is belie...

Re: 128bit vs 256bit for GPU folding
For folding (as 7im has said) the memory interface makes little difference, as the memory bandwidth is not the limitting factor. However, if you should care very much about using the card to play games in high resolution (especially DX11) you may experience low texture fill rates, and potentially la...

Re: GTX 460 with very low PPD and super high TPF, please hel
. . .OTOH, my amd fx cpu is folding 8011, with 700 credit... which is quite low, right? Are you aware that the mainboard you are using doesn't have native bulldozer (FX) CPU support? The 890 chipsets support AM3 whilst the 990 chipsets are AM3+. There appears to be a BIOS update available from MSi'...

MSi provide their own drivers for their hardware. Whether these are simply approved by MSi or partially / wholey re-written due to differing hardware remains to be seen. Either way I would recommend performing a clean driver installation with an approved driver: http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N460GT...
