Re: timing a work unit

The longest work units I've ever had on this new machine took 14 hours. I've not seen any of those for quite a few weeks. I forget the number of the project that it consisted of.
Now the longest I've been getting lately is 8 to 9 hours.

timing a work unit

Hi. Just out of curiosity, I am doing project 8806, which takes just over 5 hours to complete on my machine. I am really interested in what sort of times other people get on their machine with this project.
Thanks.

When FAH isn't running, you can try running a vacuum operation on the client.db file. sqlite3 client.db vacuum.

Re: which is the most important file in the work unit results?

I only ask because I am interested and I like to know how it all works, there is no ulterior motive, I am not trying to hack anything or gain an unfair advantage, I am autistic and just very curious, I also like to know what all the other files do, like the .XTC and .EDR files. PS: I have no childre...

which is the most important file in the work unit results?

Hi. Just out of curiosity, I can remember with the first version of fah I tried, back in the old windows 9x and XP days, whenever the work unit finished, it would create a big text file .gro file, then it would somehow compress it and make it a binary file and then send the results, when the work un...

Re: project 18820

Can anyone on here tell me what the project is about? all I know is that it's very fast on my 16 core intel machine.
The longest unit I've ever received was 14 hours.

Hi there
Do you know anything about the project? when I click on project details, it doesn't have any info about it anywhere that I can find.
Thanks.

No I don't have any security software or firewall turned on, I was able to get the work unit but not the core. This is really strange.

advanced options with 8.3, can't download any cores

Hi there. I've come back after a brief hiatus, and I must say, I really like the v8.3 web interface. It's much less clunkier and more screen reader friendlier than the GTK GUI, so thank you. Can I still use the advanced configuration commands? IE, I used to fold short work units using special comman...

Why does the date appear in the console window sometimes?

Hi there.
I have FAH set to show the console window because I like to know what it's doing. and how fast a work unit is going.
sometimes, the date appears in the results.
Why does this happen? what does it mean?
Thanks.

Hi.
When you change gpu options, where are the settings saved to, the registry? or a file?
Thanks.

Re: What is the best Nvidia video card to get to fold the fastest?

seems I downloaded the wrong version, I had to choose standalone. This time it installed, but because it only works on Nvidia cards, I can't test the GUI interface. Back to the drawing board again.

Re: What is the best Nvidia video card to get to fold the fastest?

I wish I could try out the GUI interface of EVGA Precision X1 with NVDA screen reader but I don't have an Nvidia card yet, and the install process halted and was incomplete, with an error about fan mode. My concern is that I'll pay big bucks for a Nvidia card and then find out whatever the software ...
