Re: Help with scripting a pause/resume toggle in Ubuntu
Alright, I've got most of the script made. The part I'm having trouble with is actually parsing the slot-info output. Anyone know how to store the "status" value of a specific "id", without the need to install additional packages? #nc output: nc localhost 36330 <<EOF slot-info ex...

Yes! slot-info is exactly what I'm looking for! Coding time!

Re: Help with scripting a pause/resume toggle in Ubuntu
Tricky in what sense? Does it not find the status 100% of the time?

Re: Help with scripting a pause/resume toggle in Ubuntu
Yeah, I was trying to avoid a script that creates a flag like that. Even after a solid hour of searching, I found nothing that could suggest some sort of "FAHClient --slot-status" command, but I'm fairly certain there has to be something. How else does FAHControl know?

Re: Help with scripting a pause/resume toggle in Ubuntu
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm using Ubuntu, not Windows.

Help with scripting a pause/resume toggle in Ubuntu
On one of my Linux systems, I've got a CPU and GPU core running most of the time. However, for gaming purposes, or when GPU folding interferes with video playback on my browser, I pause the GPU slot. To do this, I have the following custom hotkeys: Ctrl + F12: FAH Pause: sh -c "FAHClient --send...

Re: Linux kernel versions and F@H performance
Given that it's a kernel and microcode update, it shouldn't have any effect. Unless you're using some sort of distro-specific kernel, in which case I have no idea.

Re: Linux kernel versions and F@H performance
Will it affect folding? Apparently it only affects sys calls, which means gaming for example will not be significantly affected. Though gaming and folding are two different things, so I'm not so sure.

Re: Linux kernel versions and F@H performance
That would skew the results though. I'd need to keep the drivers the same, or otherwise it would be difficult to tell whether the kernel or the driver update was the cause of performance changes. In that case, I'd need to keep a 'control' version of the drivers, and switch to it before running any b...

Re: Linux kernel versions and F@H performance
That's a pity. I'll be honest here, I've got the time and the resources to make the comparisons, but I can't really justify diverting folding power to such tests for several hours. I guess a lot of other people are in the same boat as well. Or perhaps I could try doing it as each kernel is updated. ...

Linux kernel versions and F@H performance
Most recent topic related to this appears to be some page that references version 2.6 back in 2009. Curious to see if there is more up to date information here. Basically, has anyone been able to test differences in performance between different kernel versions for the purposes of folding? There hav...

Re: PCI-e bandwidth/capacity limitations
I did not. All I did was type FAHClient. Can try that out later on though. What are the differences between the two?

Re: PCI-e bandwidth/capacity limitations
So, I purchased a pair of risers a while back, and started testing them out. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to even get to the testing stage, since I'm having issues getting the cards to fold at all in the first place. Those of you with riser experience, any help? System setup is is currently: 2...

Re: GPU or WU issue?
Hmm, so that would mean that even at the default 100%, the fan speed is still significantly limited by PWM. Wonder if it would be easier to plug the fans directly into a molex adaptor/mod for pure 12v. I would assume these fans are tested for continuous 12v usage, which would mean that there wouldn'...

Re: GPU or WU issue?
I, uhh...don't exactly have a side panel...
In any case, I haven't noticed any other issues since then from any of my cards. Still curious if setting fans past 100% is actually possible from the OS though.
