Re: Looking for a Light OS

If you want a light headless OS, I'd recommend Debian net-install: https://www.debian.org/distrib/netinst Don't select any desktop or anything in the selection in the installer. If you just install the base system, it'll consume 300 MB of disk space, 15 MB of RAM, and then you can install the nvidia...

Re: How to set up Folding@home on FreeNAS/TrueNAS - a guide

Caution: the F@h installation, configuration of Docker images, and other changes are specific to the running version of TrueNAS SCALE and do not seem to follow from one version to the next. After an update, the default home directory (/root) seems normal, but the system is using a fresh image, so F@...

Re: Folding unable to start folding on Linux Docker Containe

Hi seasonalskier, Is /srv/dev-disk-by-label-Files/Docker-configs/ persistent storage? If you look in the Docker-configs/Folding-At-Home directory in there, are the files owned by 1000:100, as specified in your Docker setup? I'm wondering if the core simply didn't have the right permissions to execut...

How to set up Folding@home on FreeNAS/TrueNAS - a guide

This is a guide on how to configure a PC to manage a large storage pool using FreeNAS and running Folding@home at the same time. Up until now, to the extent of my research on this forum and across the Internet, they seemed fairly mutually exclusive. There are alternatives, such as Ansible , but Free...

Re: Reinstalling FAH client every time I reboot. Please advi

If you log into your admin account, you should be able to start F@h from the desktop icon. You could then leave the admin account active so that F@h continues running, but you should be able to use "Advanced Control" (FAHControl) to control it from your standard account.

Hi Nicolas and welcome to the forum.

Is this Windows, OS X, or Linux? Do you have the latest AMD drivers installed?

Re: Remote Access over the internet

I don't see any screenshot image there, could you try that again? If you have the router set up, you'll also need to figure the F@h software at your dad's place. Click "control" in the upper-left corner, go under the Remote Access tab, and add a password/passphrase into the first section. ...

Re: No WU for a long time. Stacked

Does your GPU sometimes pick up work? The general problem is that there has been massive demand for GPU workunits, far outstripping supply and server resources. The servers are currently sending out 140,000 workunits/hour when two months ago they were at 10,000 workunits/hour. The research teams hav...

Re: GPU Slot won't show

Hi and welcome to the forum. I see a few items from the log: 1) At the top, "GPUs: 0" generally means that the software doesn't recognize any compatible graphics cards. You have the Nvidia 445.75 driver installed, right? 2) You mentioned adding a slot, but I see a part of the configuration...

Re: Remote Access over the internet

You're poking around in the right places. You will first need a couple pieces of information: 1) the IP address for both your home and your dad's home. At each location, open up DuckDuckGo or Google and type in "what is my IP address" and it will directly tell you. Write these down. 2) You...

Re: How does F@H decide whether a work unit is okay or fault

The client performs a number of checks, such as ensuring that the simulation produces valid and sensible mathematical results and that all the files are present and working correctly. Additionally, the server performs a number of sanity and validation checks on the returned workunit. For example, is...

Re: Graphics card power cables to PSU

I don't know how the Y cable is wired or if its wiring is compatible with your PSU ports. It would be extremely unfortunate to use a $10 cable to fry the PSU or graphics card. There's too much money on the line to risk it, it my view. Second, PSUs are usually set up to run a single line, known as a ...

You can uninstall the software and select the option to preserve your existing F@h data, but you should be able to install the new version on top of the former version.

Re: Some computers getting work, others not?

Another option is to add another CPU slot and set the number of cores to 8. That way you have a 24+8 setup, as Bruce was saying, though I'm certain Rosetta appreciates the eight cores too. Either way works.
