Re: 171.64.65.62

I have a couple of clients in the same situation. It's Sunday, I'm not promising anything today, but I did send a message to Pande Group. It's a pity that users need to send messages to them - millions of potential folding cycles (or whatever units are used to measure folding) are lost in these cou...

Re: 171.64.65.62

Same issue here.... can't get new WU for over one day.
Any estimation when the server will be up again or how you can force the client to try other server?

Status 503 when trying to get work packet

Hi, weird situation here. I have two clients on two separate machines. Both are 6.30 for Windows. One client can get work packets just fine while the other keep getting this error: [10:19:10] + Attempting to get work packet [10:19:10] - Connecting to assignment server [10:19:11] - Successful: assign...

SMP plus GPU?

Hi, this might sound silly for some so sorry in advance! I'm successfully running SMP client on my Windows 7 with I5 quad core. It's running fine, taking 100% CPU as expected. I also have graphic card in the machine with half giga memory of its own.... I wonder if I can run GPU client in addi...

Re: What made you join the cause?

Thanks everyone for sharing their stories.. I feel so small compared to the "big guns" here, lol.. :)

Let's all hope that more and more people will join the cause the the greatest hope, that all this folding will eventually help the scientists find a cure! :D

Re: What made you join the cause?

My distributed computing history is quite long ... ;) I first started on distributed.net in the 90s on the RC5-64 project ... Cracking a code finally became boring, so I started to search for a more useful project. At that time, I joined the SETI@Home project. The project suited fine with the compu...

Re: What made you join the cause?

I was on a rationalist forum and some members were posting about "folding" seemed such a unusual topic title I had to read it  fortunately some people were patient enough to explain the distributed computing idea and offer lots of support and encouragement. I then started reading up...

Re: What made you join the cause?

First started Distributed Computing with SETI@Home in the 90s. I was active on alt.comp.hardware.overclocking and someone started talking about Genome@Home and A.C.H.O. started a team. That team morphed into The Genome Collective and was very active in GAH. When GAH turned into FAH, I split the tea...

What made you join the cause?

Just curious to hear how you started folding? For me it was via programming forum I was part of (still there actually :)), someone posted about folding explaining what it is and some of the members, myself included, followed his lead and started folding as part of his team. This was about four maybe...

I meant using the "Reply with quote" button when replying to posts, so there won't be misunderstanding about who you're replying to... :)

Re: help finding progress

Good to know.. and what happens when there is no passkey to any of the persons using the same name? Is there any unique ID generated on the F@H server? No. They cannot be sorted out, although if they happen to be on different teams, that might work, too. Early FAH stats didn't enforce any kind of u...
