Re: Change in BA requirements
What a seriously bad decision to eventually END BA folding. What are you guys smoking? People have invested thousands and thousands of dollars and euros into getting big BA systems running. ll folding for the cure. People committing to folding, wanting to help out in the biggest way they can. And n...

Re: Change management process for software enhancements
But the main point of Folding, in my opinion, is to help PG/Stanford University with their biomedical research, to try to develop treatments/cures for a lot of pretty horrible diseases. That's my main motive too, but there's still an element of competition… eg there's one donor whose PPD is very cl...

Re: Change management process for software enhancements
On the Teams and Stas page it says: On this page you will find access to statistics for individuals and teams who have joined together to earn points and compete with other teams. Some of us are quite intense in our approach to folding. We have team websites, we supe up our computers ... My bold. W...

Re: Core 17 and temp control
Even a small effort is a waste when it's a duplicated effort. Nice to have, not must have. And we have a lot of must have bugs to fix first. It also has a very limited application value. Only 1 GPU. Must be NV GPU. Doesn't work in all 3 OS types. Tools they put in to the GUI should work for all typ...

Re: Linux driver 331.20 released
At one time, installing Silverlight changed FAH's productivity. I've heard no recent reports either way, but it might be worth a try. I'm trying out Win8.1 this week (ugh) and notice that it's an optional install. That's interesting, I hadn't heard about that before (that installing Silverlight cou...

Re: Linux driver 331.20 released
Now, this is for a Windows 7 system, not for a Linux system, but the newest driver that I tried out, v331.65, showed a 50%-60% drop in PPD values, when compared to the "best" older driver that I have used (v327.23 WHQL). Please see a more detailed description about this, at this link . Che...

Re: Project 8900 WORK_QUIT (404)
the GPU at 79-82C depending on ambient temps Those temperatures seem a bit high. My 7970 sits around 61C when folding. Have you tried using MSIAfterburner or other software to manually set the fan speed higher? As an experiment you could try removing the computer's side panel just to see if the tem...

Re: Project 8900 WORK_QUIT (404)
I don't know if it might make any difference, but all 24 of my Windows 7 machines in "The Farm" (mostly Win7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit, but also a few Win7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit) all use FAH v7.2.9. You can see "The Farm" at this link . The reason that I have stayed with FAH v7.2.9 i...

Re: Driver 331.58 PPD double low
PPD on that driver double down from 68-69k to 30k on GTX670, back to 314.07 The 331.65 driver has some very dismal FAH performance as well ( link ): After allowing enough time for the PPD readings to stabilize (~1 hour on each system), I found that all 24 of my Windows 7/NVIDIA GPU systems had expe...

Re: Windows Update installs driver version 331.65
Except the general recommendation around here is to set Windows Update to download the updates, but not install them. Then you can choose a more convenient time to install them. No one is around to recover a crashed system at 3 am and start the fah client folding again. Losing several hours of fold...

Re: Windows Update installs driver version 331.65
I don't expect much has changed from the version a few days ago... https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=80&t=25132 After allowing enough time for the PPD readings to stabilize (~1 hour on each system), I found that all 24 of my Windows 7/NVIDIA GPU systems had experienced a 50% to 60% drop ...
