I would agree here. Deepmind's work while incredible is for profit. Baker's is not. Can the mods adjust the title?toTOW wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 7:57 pm Most important news is that David Baker of Rosetta@Home also got the shared Nobel prize !

Re: Steam Deck GPU "ready"
At first glance I'd say is a permission issue. But more impotantly: I doubt a Steam deck is suitable for Folding at Home. The software stresses the hardware way more than even modern games, especially GPUs (CPU usage for folding can be tuned better), and requires proper cooling. That is also why fo...

Re: Projects with no descriptions
I don't know of any other distributed computing project which actually has a seperate description for every single project. BOINC projects often have weird names leaving you clueless. Even if a project doesn't have a description, you can be certain you're contributing to valuable science. I actually...

Why would you want to delete a WU?serval2412 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 21, 2022 5:17 pm I just git cloned the new version (cbang, fah-client-bastet and fah-web-client-bastet), the interface is great! The possibility to delete a WU is there!
Great job!
Thank you a lot for your patience and all these info!

Re: Powassan virus (POWV)
Dengue is a disease of interest for the FAH researchers (see https://foldingathome.org/diseases/infectious-diseases/dengue-fever/?lng=en), but I haven't seen any work for it in quite a while. I assume researchers could use PocketMiner to identify druggable sites in the diseases' proteins: https://po...

Re: The battle for more computer power will never cease!
so home CPUs may finally have double the power when folding, if F@H writes a hypothetical Core_A9. A9 is not hypothetical but already being worked on. It will offer support for GPUs. Maybe there will be a version supporting GPUs, but that A9 test core failed to work out. The developer of that versi...

Afaik the last two digits of the project number indicate sub projects of the main subject. So 182xx are all Alzheimer's. Basically, here's the list of all projects, although I don't see any indication what projects are actually active atm: https://apps.foldingathome.org/psummary Yeah I based this l...

List of topics being researched by Folding@Home
Hi all! I thought it would be interesting to have a list of topics/diseases that are actively being researched by FAH and the relevant project numbers. I came up with this, any additions are welcome! COVID-19 (Omicron variant): 17258 Alzheimer's disease (ApoE proteins): 18213 Cancer (kinases): 16489...
