Re: Which version of Linux ?
There are many flavors of Linux. Most are not that difficult to learn. In fact no different than using Windows for the first time. Especially distributions like PCLinuxOS, Mint and Ubuntu. Even Slacware is not the hard to learn. Folding may require a bit more effort to install than on Windows, but t...

Re: Which version of Linux ?
I just chime in and state I have been folding with Slackware for as long as I have been folding. Right now I have two machines one 32-bit, one 64-bit dual-core. I normally boot to run level 3 (command line). When I need the GUI I simple run startx. When done I exit out back to the command line. Sort...

Re: Stray Volatage, and how to mitigate it.
I noticed in working on my computers in the basement the last few days that I would get very low "tingles" of voltage, that were not strong enough to be called a shock. I really noticed it if my bare skin was touching a "sharp" point on the case, or the trailing edge of the side...

Re: Project: 6702 (Run 4, Clone 58, Gen 71)
I decided to calculated this WU. I used the "Posted data" times for start and finish and came up with 4.94 days. That is fairly close I'd say. :D [03:57:21] + Attempting to get work packet [03:57:21] Passkey found [03:57:21] - Will indicate memory of 3832 MB [03:57:21] - Connecting to assi...

Re: Project: 6702 (Run 4, Clone 58, Gen 71)
Thanks toTOW and Bruce. I sort of figured it missing the preferred deadline. Nice to know I figured correctly.
I know were to find the Preferred and Final Deadline days. Where can I find "Days taken to complete WU: 4.96"? If FahMon, HFM or qd give that information I missed it.

Project: 6702 (Run 4, Clone 58, Gen 71)
The log is a bit hard to read due several shutdowns. This WU did complete, but had one error and restarted. Only got 921 points for it. I am guessing because I did not make the preferred deadline? ("finished with 18 percent of time to deadline remaining") I split the log in to two parts to...

Re: Folding pratices guideline
Regarding The Project/Work Units (WUs) --SNIP-- 5) Running a F@h Client on hardware that will only marginally meet the WUs Preferred Deadline is strongly discouraged. For example, it is not recommended to run bigadv units on slower i7 CPUs and it is not recommended to run SMP units on slower 2-core...
