Re: beta projects

That is for a feature to toggle use of HIP on or off, needed for internal testing just as they also toggle CUDA on or off to use OpenCL instead. It is not needed to use a core with HIP available. For it to make any difference, first they have to have HIP implemented in a working core, that has not y...

Re: beta projects

I would have to check, but I don't recall any current projects released to public or beta to test Core_26 before today. One project has moved to Beta using that core just today, the announcement is in that group. There was a brief test of Core_26 released to all a few weeks ago by the researcher to ...

Re: Start Folding on GPU without Website

The v8.4 Web Control when set up with an account can access clients on any network as long as not otherwise blocked by a firewall. It is not limited to the local network.

Re: Is this expected ? Most Jobs don't finish

With modern cards just leave the voltages to the firmware when dealing with keeping a GPU stable for folding. What works for most is setting power limits instead. Mining uses different functions, and may not have as much error detection as folding. The GPU folding core both checks for calculations t...

Re: WU logged as failed but credited?

There has been a long standing problem with ACKs using HTTP or HTTPS and the clients over the years. The basic problem is that many ISPs consider them less important and may drop them going through their routers, especially under high network loads. In a browser you just hit refresh if something doe...

Re: Fixed: Many failed work units for core 0x24

You assume others have not turned off MS's autoupdate. I have had it done on many systems, just to see some update run manually quietly turn it back on for the future. MS has been very good at hiding this in many updates and patches for many years. About as bad as Google at re-enabling autoupdates t...

Which Nvidia GPU? It doesn't show up in the section of log you posted, not all projects get assigned to all types of GPUs from Nvidia.

Re: PCIe bandwidth requirements (RTX 50xx edition)

I think the testing that showed an x4 lane connection was enough on PCIe 3 dates back to the era of the 3090 cards, and even then showed some loss of processing speed compared to x8 or wider connections. I don't recall any newer testing mentioned here, possibly on the discord but I don't follow that.

Re: Where is the finish and individual client pause function on new web control version

When I am on https://v8-4.foldingathome.org/machines, the pause control for each device or system is two black bars to the right hand side of the display. To the left of that is a gear for settings changes, the icon for looking at the log, and an "i" for info. When I click the Pause icon, ...

Re: Finish and individual client pause function on new web control version

For Finish if you click on the Pause button, you should be given the option of pausing immediately or finishing the WU and then pausing. This should be happening with both the Pause All button and the individual Pause controls for each active folding device. From the client there is no way to exclud...

Re: WU stuck on uploading

Okay, that shows attempts to connect to 3 different servers at Temple. The first two are failing due to DNS lookups failing. Those are provided by your OS, not something within the folding client. So for some reason the DNS sites you are using are not resolving those addresses. The third attempt is ...

Re: WU stuck on uploading

There is additional information that would be useful to help determine what the problem might be. One if the WU identification - Project, Run, Clone and Gen. The second would be not filtering out the connection made to start the upload. That would be a line that looks similar to this: 07:15:56:I1:OU...

Re: timing a work unit

I just remember starting out nearly 20 years ago and WUs taking 7-10 days to complete, have no memory of how many points they were given. Not many though. Still recall having my first dual core machine and being able to see the speedup.

Re: WU & Points missmatch

v7 also would be using a passkey, only use of a password in the client is for network connections if you set it up to monitor and control other local systems. Did you get a new passkey when you installed v8? P.S. v7 also would only display stats for a single username and passkey pair in the Web Cont...

Re: Stats page not updating

First, double check that your passkey is entered into the client. You can check your bonus status here - https://apps.foldingathome.org/bonus. If you are folding under the same name as you are posting from, it shows that two different passkeys have been used, and the second has only completed a sing...
