Re: Apple Silicon ARM chips - M3 family support status
Never occurred to me they hadn't written cores for ARM but I guess it makes sense given how few people will use it. Kinda surprising they have an ARM port of the client at all really. I mean if they don't think its worth supporting Metal on MacOS, then what chance does Linux on ARM have. To clarify...

Re: 8.4 Open Beta
I will check into that. I was informed recently that the developer was pushing towards a public Beta, but hadn't received any notice that it was live. It is possible the most recent Alpha was posted on the wrong page, the Alpha page still lists 8.4.8. If the Public Beta is supposed to start, I will ...

Re: Nvidia 550.120 Linux Driver
Elsewhere I have come across mention of Core_24 requiring at least Ubuntu 22.04 to have a new enough glibc. That was a single mention. I don't know if they can filter assignments on the servers to require a minimum OS version for Linux.

Re: F@H Client V7.6 GPU Frying
A discord was created during COVID, many people go there now instead of here on the forum. Best I can say about your problem using the info you have split up over multiple topics, is that a number of people have reported various problems using the most recent Nvidia drivers on older Ubuntu versions ...

Re: Project 16525 not uploading
Thanks sirray, I also tried steps 1-3 to no avail. I added max-packet-size=small to my config on 7.x and will run it to see if any other results get stuck. If so, I'll simply migrate away from BD once my subscription expires and probably just use Windows Defender... unless you recommend something e...

Re: [Closed] Fedora app.foldingathome.org Web Control Issues
Still just two WUs reported as completed and turned in, the second returned about 14 hours before the time I am posting. The first WU did not show a Team, and apparently you had not entered a passkey yet at the time it was processed. That would result in the first WU not showing in the Web Control, ...

Re: Fedora app.foldingathome.org Web Control Issues
At this point the stats show that you have completed and returned just one WU - https://stats.foldingathome.org/donor/id/722450572. If your logs show more WUs processed and returned than that, provide that information and that can be looked into. You can also post the first 100 or so lines of a log ...

Re: Thoughts on Apple M chips?
Interesting, thanks Joe! I just saw your numbers in folding.extremeoverclocking.com, averaging over 300,000 PPD on just 6 P cores?! The EOC stats are for two systems. The other is an i7-770K equipped Hackintosh I put together half a dozen years ago. Folding on 4 cores that puts out about 140K PPD, ...

Re: Thoughts on Apple M chips?
I have a Mac Studio with the M1 Max chip. I set it up to use the 6 performance cores for folding, and have not noticed any impact at all while gaming in WoW or other games so far. I see a bit higher PPD than shown on the Lars site, but that includes an average over all cores. The economy cores do sl...

Re: Project 16525 not uploading
I also had the same problem uploading projects 16525 and 16781 on a computer running BitDefender. The logs below was from when I had both WUs completed but neither one could be uploaded. So the two uploads were happening at the same time and the log entries were a little co-mingled. The symptoms do...

Re: Corrupted / bad job 18237/1069/0/71 (failing for all users)
I have reported the Project 18237 WU to the researcher, it should have stopped being assigned after multiple failures. It looks like that happened back in October, then started being assigned again 2 days ago. The 5 failures on the Project 16780 WU should be enough to automatically keep it from reas...

Re: Problem with WU 18806 (19, 5, 167)
I will have to check this further on my systems as I was running an older release of the v8 beta client. I also saw a memory leak on macOS, that was running v8.3.14 Intel and fah-client had grown to 3.3 GB over a few weeks. As that system has 48 GB of RAM it barely noticed the memory usage. On Windo...

Re: Folding@Home Client Control Android App
There is no install involved in using the control function, it just connects through a browser window to a F@h server to run Javascript code. No client code would get install on Android, that is not supported for folding. But the web app can be used to control folding on other systems such as Window...

Proxies are not yet supported in the released v8 client, that will be available in the next version which is currently in Alpha testing.
